Double Feature

Double Feature FlyerGallery Open Thurs-Sun 12-6

JTG is proud to present Double Feature, two concurrently running exhibitions to open in March 2009: a site-specific installation by Julia Crabtree and William Evans and a solo show by Jennifer Bailey.

The artists worked together in planning the shows but developed the concept and works separately. The result is two complementary exhibitions with some coincidental thematic links and a shared title. The notion of planning and running the shows simultaneously came from ideas around creating a more formal programme at the gallery and to break the pattern of isolated exhibitions.

Julia Crabtree and William Evans will flood the large garage space that takes up the west side of the gallery. A purpose built jetty will be constructed from the edge of the artificial lake into the centre of the water for the audience to traverse. This highly ambitious installation is the largest the gallery has seen to date.

Jennifer Bailey is showing two video works Screentest (Rabbit, Run), 2008 and Greasy Lake, 2009 in a purpose built shell in the space adjacent to the Collent Street entrance. By building a room within a room, Jennifer has disregarded the scale and possibilities of the gallery to create a dark
space suitable for her work.
