Factory

Curated by Dean Kissick
All across London, new art spaces are growing out of the discarded ruins of industry, and our city exists in a state of never‐ending flux. This exhibition is a post‐industrial factory of art machines constructed in an abandoned China warehouse in Hackney, first built in 1893 and soon to be re‐developed into the James Taylor Building complex of flats. The machines are not engines of art production, but rather works of art in themselves. They produce nothing, except for the alchemical transformation of energy into art. In contemporary London we have lost the ability to build real utilitarian objects, instead we are re‐imagined as producers of ideas, and this show will function as an ephemeral laboratory of art post-Warhol, post‐Art Market Bospace of art non‐production.
